The SCP Hotel Redmond
Traveling through the central Oregon area you will come to a town called Redmond. Redmond is just before you come to Bend Oregon and is home to Eagle Crest Resort and Smith Rock State Park where hiking, rock climbing and beautiful scenery is available to all levels of skill and experience. Redmond has all the charm of a days past and there on 6th Street you will find the SCP hotel which stands for Soul Community Planet. I found this hotel on Hotels.com while browsing other more simple “boring” looking hotels. Once inside the vintage feeling eclectic SCP hotel feels like you are taken back in time only thrust back into present time with it’s modern amenities and detail. The charm of the wood floor, white walls, plants, warm decor and artistic style was evident that SCP hotels know how to capture those details guests are looking for in a Hotel. With the onsite restaurant which provided inside dining and rooftop dining overlooking the Cascade Mountains aka “the 3 Sisters” The food options were healthy and fresh and options included many Vegan and Gluten Free options. Farm fresh from local farmers fits perfect with the Holistic and sustainable style of the SCP hotels. The SCP hotels support several charities with each stay click here for their page EVERY STAY DOES GOOD . Feeling not so healthy you will be greeted with a free Happy Hour Cocktail drink during certain hours and of course there are plenty of options outside of the Happy Hour.
Guests will enjoy all the details of this hotel from the decor to the vintage record player, the chess board ready to play, the beautiful fireplace and boho chic style. The entire main floor is a perfect marriage of boho and F. Scott Fitzgerald. The room I stayed in was a Premium King which had a separate living area, bedroom and bathroom. Entering into the space felt relaxing with the peaceful sounds playing in the room made it feel spa like and very restful. The rooms were beautifully updated yet kept the vintage charm of the wood flooring, moldings and doors. Fairly quiet on the whole (unless someone is staying above you and walking on their wood floors in heals). I’m sure there are secondary purposes to the noise machine in the room to drown out some of the sounds that an older building just can’t eliminate.
The rooftop restaurant/bar was great for relaxing and enjoying the views of the Cascades. The views are stunning on a clear night and it would make a great date night sipping and sitting by the fire. The rooftop is also available to the public if you just want a nice night out on a great roof top patio. The beautiful plant wall and the plants around the perimeter are so gorgeous. Gas fireplaces warm the rooftop bar on a cooler night and provide great atmosphere.
Steps to other great shops and places to visit. If you have kids or pets there is a great park nearby that includes a splash pad. Just down the way you’ll find City Hall and really cute coffee shops. I checked out Junction Roastery. It caught my eye with the great street appeal and inside it was super cute. Try the Egg Sandwich Croissant. Back on 6th street near the SCP HOTEL you’ll find some really cute home stores, and clothing stores as well as a few eatery’s.
The SCP Hotels have several locations that I can’t wait to try. I would highly recommend staying at the SCP Hotel in Redmond and enjoying some of the many sites and things to do around Redmond and Bend Oregon. Take another day or two for a nice 3 day weekend in the Redmond Bend area and you will find tons of outdoor activities to do. These outdoor activities include but not limited to Hiking, Biking, Horse Back Riding, rafting, floating the Dachuttes, skiing at Mt. Bachelor, Shopping in Bend & Sisters area, rock climbing at Smith Rock, Pool time, lava caves, eating at tons of great restaurants, music festivals, camping and more!
